Does Korra even know about the avatar state yet?

I mean, at the start of the series it’s made clear that she is not in touch with her spiritual side, and given they didn’t let her to move onto air bending untill she had mastered fire bending - would the order have told her about it before she was ready?

I’d assume they would know all about it, and all the dangers with it since Aang made it so they would look after Korra when she was found and help train her.

Well I’m sure she knows about it. It is a pretty vital part of being the avatar, and a pretty vital part in Aang’s story, which I’m sure she knows in great detail as well. I don’t think Aang would want them to keep something like that from her, just as I don’t think it was his idea to lock her in a compound for all those years. Even if it began as his idea, someone twisted it somehow to that I think.

And because she is not in touch with her spiritual side, to force her into the avatar state something extremely traumatic would have to happen. Even when Aang was triggered into it, he was already very spiritual. Whatever happens it is going to be big and bad and lots of tears will be shed :/

I know it’s important - it just seemed in the compound that they were very tight on what they told her, so they may not have directly informed her about it.

But I guess with Korra being Korra she would find out about it on her own if no one at the compound would tell her. Katara would probably be the person who would answer any questions.

Yeah, I imagine it will be big and bad Q__Q As much as I want to see her in the avatar state, I don’t want her to go through that much pain >:
